Residential

Ocean Reef, Key Largo

Finding this ten-acre property, surrounded by 300 acres of protected Audubon preserve in the Treasure Coast area was a dream come true.

The main house, guesthouse, pool and grounds needed extensive renovations and took one year to complete including a remodeled kitchen, a dining area suitable for casual and formal dining and a spacious great room with vaulted ceilings, a fireplace and intricate parquet flooring. Two ground-floor guest suites in the main house were also remodeled.

Up the wide staircase is a sitting room overlooking the great room below and leading to the master suite with tray ceilings and views of the the surrounding grounds.

Australian-style wrap-around covered porches offer a vantage point from which one can observe interesting wild life in the Monet-style water garden. A nature deck for viewing the ponds, wildlife and marshes was also built a short walk from the main house.

The two-story guesthouse has a separate drive and entrance for added privacy plus its own deep porch overlooking the pool from the upstairs apartment.

The pool area has been redone with a large marble deck and two wide steps that run the entire length of the pool at different depths. An eating area has been created at the far end of the pool.

Over 75 mature trees, indigenous grasses, hibiscus, lilies of all sorts, ferns, daisies, plumbago, pentas and Mexican lavender were planted and nesting areas for ducks and other birds were strategically placed to maximize habitats for all sorts of wild life.
